Tinkeri tankmates

Does anybody with Tinkeri butterfly fish have any suggestions for good tank mates? I was looking at yellow and purple tangs and wanted to get feedback from the forums on this combination.

It should be fine. I've seen a tinkeri in a tank with a purple tang, hippo tang, blueline angel, a few anthias, and a few wrasses.

How big is your tank?

A friend of mine had a tinkeri with a personifer angel, a gold flake angel, a majestic angel, a scribbled angel, and several other tangs in a 240g. He was able to hold his own just fine.

I have him in a tank that's a bit on the smaller side right now. 60 gallon cube with one radiant wrasse and they get along well. There is a 120 gallon shallow reef that I am working some final kinks out on in another room that I plan on moving him to as he gets bigger.

Mine is kept with tangs and angels just fine. Conversely, I had to use an acclimation box to let the Clarion's aggression toward him subside when initially introduced.

With a 60g, my suggestion is to just keep the butterfly as the center piece and some other small fishes such as clown fish, other small wrasses, gobies, or fire fish, and wait to get tangs until you get a larger tank.

Yeah I tend to agree with the 60g being somewhat tight. When they go to the 120g that will probably be enough room.
