Yeah, it's a tough one both ways: catching the existing scribbled or to pair them up in the DT.

If you wouldn't mind, how do you plan to pair up yours @nonstopfish?

I plan on introducing them to the new display at the same time along with other fish/angels and am banking on the large difference in size to make things sort themselves out smoothly. My mid-color change male is approximately 5.5" and the female approximately 2.5".

The original "pair" was about 6" and 4.5-5" when I got them. They lived just fine together in a 40 gallon QT, but once put into the 120 observation pretty quickly started to fight and the big one was definitely winning that battle. So I separated them with egg crate and left them for quite some time. The smaller one started to turn into male and the bigger never fully transitioned male coloration wise, but is somewhere in between. Now the smaller one has grown and passed the larger in almost completely turning to male(not to mention better coloration overall), so I am trying to pair that one with my 2.5" new one.

So I guess apart from the fact that it should be a significant size difference, the new female should not be allowed to reach somewhere around the 5” mark when introduced, else it might also turn male.

Plenty in LRS food to keep him happy. That's a Lil' guy but cute.
Brine shrimp obviously always an enticer to feeding

The multicolor and flame are actually doing great. They’re able to get their share of food and no agression thus far.
I think it may be possible for sure. Definitely going to be some aggression, with obviously the larger one. I say try it and monitor it as best as possible. All else fails, there's always QT.

Try to make sure they have as big of a difference in size as possible. I have a "pair" that were closer in size than I would have liked and had to be separated with both showing signs of being male and beating on each other. I bought another one, but much much smaller and will be giving it a try with one of the big ones once it is thru qt.
My current considerations:
Another scribbled to pair up with my existing one
French Angel (not sure how huge they go)
Chrysurus Angel
Queen Angel

Would really love a Passer, but these guys are brutes, I didn't consider the Emperor, Majestic or Blueface because they're quite common here.
i really Lov my juvenile queen angel. It eats well and holds its own with the bigger angels. My next angel would probably be a scribble. We lost one 2 years ago but was a very nice fish. Good luck. I think the French get really big.
What country are you from but the way?

Sent you a PM.

And it's amazing that you're able to make three Pomacanthus angels live together. What size is the tank if I may know?

Apart from another scribbled, what else can be added to the mix?

As far as angels, I am pretty partial to the Queen. But is there something other than angels you were thinking?

Nothing else, for now, not considering triggers or wrasses. Butterflies would just be harassed (or most likely killed) by the Zebrasoma tangs.

My blue lines are still not happy together. The original smaller one has now out grown the bigger more dominant fish. When I got them, one was 1/4 inch smaller. It is now 1/4 bigger then the other. Now that the dominant fish is smaller, it’s aggression has increased towards the larger more passive angel. The smaller one will not allow the other to feed or come out of the back corner of the tank. I wonder if their roles will change based on their size difference.

It more than likely will. This is probably behavior linking to a pairing process that is still going on. I would just keep an eye on the fish that is getting harassed and make sure that they can get adequate food. I'm not sure how long it has been going on but I would give it roughly 2 more weeks, and then see if it has calmed any.

I believe this is what @nonstopfish was talking about. There should be a significant difference in size between the two (the scribbled and blueline are in the same genus Chaetodontoplus so I would assume that their pairing behavior is similar if not the same). I would do as @K-Philly suggested, and if you could get a divider between them so that they would still see each other without the chasing. Someone did this in the Angel Lover’s Thread with two majestic angels, separated them so they could figure out who’s the real dominant, which would eventually turn male. Gorgeous bluelines btw.

Ok, so I had a few questions to 4FordFamily regarding the more aggressive angels (queen, emp, passer), and after the chat, I have decided that my last two angels would be a scribbled and a passer. There was suddenly a blueline available, but it was bigger than my scribbled angel so I decided not to get it, since there is a chance that my scribbled would become female (this is just my hypothesis since both are from the same genus). I'll have the passer as my very last fish probably when the current scribbled angel has grown by 3 more inches. But for now, I'll try to get my hands on a smaller (most likely juvenile) scribbled angel to pair up with my current one.

Both are nice fish, but I always seem to tell myself “this is my last fish”. I hope you have better control than I do.
