Howdy,

New reefer here and I just got a colony of zoanthids that looks unkept. It has a few Aptazia that I zapped and it’s all around in poor colony health from my LFS.

I noticed last night that there are two tiny creatures between the heads and I need help identifying them. I would normally just pluck them but it looks kind of like a tiny anemone and I don’t want them to spread from the remaining bits.

Any ideas? Pics attached

Word of advice... get rid of them as fast as you can. I didn't and now got a tank full of them. Real hard to kill too. Anybody got any tips on how to eliminate these and what name are they called?

Okay – Just treated with Aiptasia-x and we'll see how they go down. These are quick little jerks! :)

I have the same things. If I use vinegar do I have to inject it into the thing or will a "cloud" of vinegar around it work?

Inject it

A cloud will just be like dosing your tank

Most pharmacy’s will sell you a hypodermic needle and a syringe. Here in nc I went to cvs and told them what I was using it for and they sold me 3 fort 75 cents

The girl looked at me funny but I got my syringe

When you say these a quick little ***'s they are just sucking in / shrinking themselves right? Not actually moving away from you?

Here in New Jersey, since I'm old and retired, if I went to a drug store asking for a hypodermic needle I would be arrested, stripped searched and off to rehab with a expensive lawyer following me around. But since I have a couple of dogs my Vet might help me out.

Howdy – Yes they suck in super quickly and they are so minuscule it's hard to get the aiptasia-x inside them enough. I treated one though and I'll wait until tonight when the zoas close to treat the other since it's the smallest. It's about 3-4mm across. I'll be excited to get these buggers gone. We've had our setup for a couple few months now and so far (knock on wood!) we haven't seen any real pests except two of the aiptasia and now these two buggers.
