My boyfriend was given an old microscope by a friend in his lab and we got an attachment for my camera so we could check out all the tiny things that came out of the live rock. We've had some fun looking at a couple red flatworms before I removed them all, and the pods are really interesting...but we just found this tiny jellyfish looking thing stuck to the glass and I wasn't sure what it was...closest thing I could find online was maybe a hydroid? Once I sucked it off the glass with a little pipet it swam around like a jellyfish would...it was kinda cute haha

Anybody got an idea or confirmation?
Thanks! :)

Its a hydroid. Remove with edge of a credit card and discard

Ah, so they Are bad news? I read they were bad for sea horses but I don't have those so I wasn't sure if they were still bad.
They can multiply and it is said they have a slight sting to coral. I just pull them before I find out the hard way

That makes sense...definitely into the "better safe than sorry" approach haha
I had it in a jar while I was researching because I thought it was neat but bye-bye :P

I found another one on the glass near the sand bed that had the long tentacles that I I saw when I looked up hydroid Medusa after finding the first one that only had little nubby tentacles
I’ve removed it, but I figured it might be helpful to anyone else looking around to see a picture that looked more like what I see when I look at the glass and not the microscope shot
