Hi guys,

Just started my tank recently got some live rock that stayed a bit out so i guess I'm recycling it.

Can someone identify what is this tiny red and black worm in one of the rocks?

It's very slow moving almost doesn't look like it's moving if i didn't get the zoom lenses and waited a bit.

If you know what it is, is it harmful or beneficial?

Cheers, IMG_20211115_200540_BURST16.jpg IMG_20211115_200540_BURST5.jpg IMG_20211115_200540_BURST17.jpg

Pics are so blue making it hard to depict but generally per your description, may be detritus worm

would be a sign of over feeding and need for more frequent water changes

Probably a bristle worm. Some like them, some don't. I keep mine mine. My wrasse and copperband gobble them up.

also, most likely not harmful.

Yep bristle worm it's a good guy if you start seeing tons of em when feeding you're feeding a lil too much.

Thanks guys.

I've got no livestock yet. Currently cycling the tank with live rock provided by the previous owner.

I will be mindful with the feeding once I put some fish in.
