Looks like a banded trochus to me. Perfectly fine and reef safe. See if everyone else agrees (about the ID).
what kind of snails have you added to your tank so far?Thank you, makes me feel a lot better! Any clue If it would be a hitch hiker? Or did my snails have baby’s? Lol. Also I literally just noticed a small white tentacle with red coming out from the bottom of my live rock when the lights we t out and when I put a light on him he pulls it back in! Any idea what this could be? Hard to get a pick of it but I will try!
Not quite like that more like a tentacle if that makes sense!!what kind of snails have you added to your tank so far?
does the small white tube with red look anything like this?

Really appreciate the info!! I’m trying to get a better picture of it I posted one but it’s not great quality lol.. looks like a feeler of some sortTrochus snails are prolific breeders, and they grow quickly. Most likely a hitch hiker that was so small you didn’t notice earlier. If you had breeding trochus snails, you’d have dozens of babies.
The red tentacle could be a bristle worm, just going by the description and not being able to see it. They are quick. Generally, the red bristle worms are fine as they don’t get too big. There are species of bristle worms that can get quite large and are not reef safe. I can’t count how many red bristles are in my reef. Just keep an eye on it, and as long as it doesn’t get giant, it’s probably fine. They do make bristle worm traps if you are worried.
It does look like a bristle worm to me. Like I said, keep an eye on it. If it gets more than 3 or 4 inches, maybe consider trying to trap it. They can stretch unusually long. But generally, the small ones are good detritus eaters.
Did you check out the picture?@Titans831 your mystery worm sounds like a peanut worm.
Thanks for the help I definitely will keep an eye out for it!! How do I trap this thing lol I tried to grab him with tweezers but didn’t work to well lol.. really though he’s not bad? How would he have gotten hereIt does look like a bristle worm to me. Like I said, keep an eye on it. If it gets more than 3 or 4 inches, maybe consider trying to trap it. You can buy commercially made traps for them. There are also videos on how to make home made traps. I don’t think the tweezer route will work. They are way too quick. Some wrasses and crabs eat them too. They are hitch hikers. Could have been in a piece of live rock. I really do have dozens in my system, especially in my fuge. They are generally fine. Of course, I can’t tell from the picture for certain If yours is really ok or not. Thanks for the help I definitely will keep an eye out for it!!
