I've had this healthy, gorgeous rose bubble tip about 8" diameter that my clown hosts. I fed it it's weekly table shrimp this morning. About an hour ago I had to frag my Xenia behind the nem because it moved recently and am about to lose the last of my Xenia colony as a result... I moved the nem to the side and fragged the last of the Xenia with a razor in attempt to save what's left. Well just now I noticed a tiny tentacle on the sand bed. I'm wondering if I did this by accident or something else is going on... My nem has always looked very healthy. It looks droopy right now only because it just ate... It always does after it eats. Does anyone have suggestions?

forgive the iphone pics...

Yea this guy has always been pretty healthy and eats like a pig. Have never seen it drop a tentacle though...

Clownfish will bite/nibble on the end of my BTAs occasionally. Maybe the get a little aggressive and take a tip off. Once in a while I also see a tiny bit of tentacle laying on the sand. No ill effects on my end either.

Makes sense I've seen him chewing on tentacles before

I wouldn't sweat it. I don't think its a nasty crab or anything... They make big holes in the base normally. I had gotten a nasty crab one time that I found was trying to pull my bubble tip into his hole. I pulled the super stressed nem out of the hole the next morning and he was hanging on the base. I fed the crab to my mantis.

Nice nem
