Hey all, I need help identifying something I have growing on the side of my tank glass and over flow box. I'd take a picture but even zoomed in they are just tiny white specs.

So The specs almost look to have a swirl shape and can be scrapped off the glass pretty easily.
It's definitely hard and comes off in one piece and sinks to the bottom if I scrap it. I was trying to look I up and I think I've narrowed it downed to baby snails or a type of worm? Can anyone help me identify it? Is it a bad thing or something I should be worried about?

I have the same thing.. Back wall is loaded with them as is the pump chamber of my BioCube. Wonder what the ramifications of this might be

Like this? I could not tell you exactly what they are but certainly some type of baby worm that eventually grows into a bigger one. Both pictured here

The little ones are spirorbid worms - the big one is something else with an interesting tube. I'd be curious to see what actually lives in that one.

Also, this thread is from 2016, so I wouldn't expect responses from the original posters.

Anything like these (pictures)
Spirobids
Harmless filter feeders but they have a very hard shell, they are aggressive breeders and the shell is tough to remove from all surfaces including glass

Yeah I noticed it was an old thread but came across it. Thanks for the Id! I could tell those little swirls were some kind of worm maybe a feather duster filter feeder. Glad I can put a name to them now.

These were photographed on the casing of my return pumps when I took them out to clean. I was able to get a good zoomed shot with them out of the water
