Tiny white worms

Hello. I had my flow pumps off and when the water calmed down I noticed dozens of these tiny whit worm look critters. They are about 1/8-1/4” long with a little tuft at one end. They surfaced from the sand and my clowns started devouring them. Any ideas of what they are? Thanks for any help!
