I previously kept a rose bubble tip anemone in my Red Sea Max C-250 and it died, killing off the whole tank. I have to expensive clownfish that host everything and have a tendency to kill off corals. Anyone know how I can keep a healthy and happy anemone for my clownfish. I have well-maintained water(no major algae problems, crystal clear, weekly water changes, regular dosing, and testing) and healthy fish.

Proper lighting and feeding is really it other than your typical good water quality. What light do you have?

I would feed the anemone every day. The anemone looked healthy for a while but was moving around the tank. The anemone eventually split and then died.

Hmm, I would try not to feed it everyday but rather twice a week unless it was smaller food pieces. I have heard about overfeeding but I can't say that I have any sort of evidence to back that claim up. I would say renting a par meter might help just so you can get an idea of your lighting. Was there anything that happened around the time it split?

Sounds like it was stressed out from getting fed everyday and the split was it’s last effort to survive. Did you also feed the splits ?

Ya I don't feed neither of my anemones but sometimes ill see one of my clowns feed them even than the only time I've had mine split was when I watched my clownfish feed the anemone a huge piece of rods food I wouldn't worry much about target feeding especially if they have a clown hosting
