I did some searches but have actually found nothing on this.

Any tips on fragging leptoseris? I will be using a dremel and just planned on cutting from bottom of the frag plug through to the tissue on top. Or should I frag just below the tissue line and cut tissue with scalpel?

All comments welcome and appreciated. Thanks!

Taggin along. I am about ready to frag mine, but to me it looks like you could just pop em with a razor blade. At least mine does, it is pretty thin.

I could see that, yes the skin is very thin. Do you mean straight cut on skin and then pop them off the frag plug from underneath, sorta like zoas?

I think i just might dremel mine through all the way and see what happens, the coral is completely encrusting a plug and not much room to work with. I will be using light lugols dip for afterwards.

I was thinking popping it off the frag plug and then holding a razor/scraper and hitting it w a hammer. Kinda like old Skool chalice fragging. I would guess that you wouldn't get exact cuts and might get some extra frags.

I have a deemed, so please post if that is the route you go.

Thanks!

Just wanted to update this,

On Rosko23's advice I went ahead with a dremel and diamond saw and just sliced right through the sucker. It was advised to me to make the cut quick which i did and then i did a very light lugols dip of both pieces for couple mins. Both frags look great with no tissue loss and i'm already seeing it grow over the edge of the cut.

Thanks for the help!!

I use wire cutters for most of my fragging, cheaper ones seem to do just as well as the expensive ones.
