Purchased an adjustable wavemaker online. For my 55 gal fresh that seems to be louder than normal. Like it needs lubricant on the motor. Any ideas or suggestions? Besides returning it lol.

There is nothing to lubricate. You could take it apart and make sure the impeller spins freely and everything looks ok.
I took it apart lastnight and realised that. So what i did is i cut the prop some so its smaller.. Still produces good flow and is silent now :)

Thats the cheapest of the cheap. Doesn't surprise me it's noisy at all.

You will learn very quickly in this hobby, some things aren't worth skimping on, and equipment is typically one.

FWIW, you want them to be quieter, throw them away and buy new ones. Preferably in a higher price point so your not just buying cheap, noisy junk.

Well homer i agree with you but my wallet dont stretch that far. Lol

I wish i could homer believe me.. If it was that easy id have a better setup than most people on here. But I am not made of money and what i do have i worked hard for.. I appreciate the advice but inless someone wants to donate or has extras for less $.. im stuck with what i have for now so i need to make it work.

I totally understand, and didn't mean for my post to come off as a holier then thou type of post.

But typically quiet, reliable, and cheap don't work together very well in this hobby.

If your looking for relatively cheap, and somewhat quiet and reliable, look into jebao series of pumps.

Look at this way:
We typically tell people in this hobby to buy it right the first time. Meaning by time you buy the same piece of equipment 2 or 3 times to replace the cheaply made stuff, you would have payed for the higher priced item to begin with.

Just food for thought.
