I currently have a 80 deep blue frag tank set up as a shallow reef.

Equipment list
Mag 2 return
Bubble magus nac6 skimmer
20L dig sump. Just basic baffle setup (filter sock- skimmer- return)
2 - 120w full spectrum led panels 3w bridgelux

I run it bare bottom and have 3 eBay knockoff korallia type power heads.

I still get detritus on the bottom and have a few dead spots where it all seems to pile up.

Currently going to add a reef keeper light and maybe an Ato. If anyone has pointers if there is something that would make a good difference in my reef.

Livestock
Pair of clowns and gbta
Yellow and regal tang
Mandarin
Copper band butterfly

Huge brain coral about 6x8
Dun cans
Sun coral
Trumpet coral
Misc zoas
Huge devils hand leather
Goniopora
Palys
Xenon of all kinds

So things to dose or new equipment. Let me know

well for starters your tank is 20 gallons shy for a yellow tang and 100 gallons shy for a regal tang .. whats your chemisrty ?? what are you looking to get out of it if you dose .. equipment looks good so far besides your pump i would prob bump up to a mag 7 or a mag 9 .

My nitrates and phosphates generally run undetectable. Dkh 11. Mag. 1310. Cal 410.

I would like to improve growth for the most part.

I'm unsure on what my overflow can handle In terms of gph.

10k MH lighting is the best for growth but I see you have leds which are also good. Im not sure what else can improve growth as of right now. As long as you maintain healthy water chemistry they will soon grow!

IMO a 80 gallon tank can handle a mag 7 or 9 .. if you have a 1" over flow .... but really get rid of your tangs .. i know they are pretty and what not but your tank is way to small to house them .. best bet bump your cal up a lil and the same with your mag .

its a 48x24 foot print which i think is pretty capable of handling two tangs for more than the time I will have this tank before an upgrade but I appreciate the concern and it isnt taken without consideration..

The leds have shown major growth improvement over previous t5 fixture. Im pretty certain the way the overflow is built is a 1 inch piped reduce to 3/4" bulkhead. But not certain,

what is everyone opinion on iodide, or vit. C, or selcon.

I'm running a mag7 on my 75 with a 1" overflow and 3/4" return so you should be fine. I think that would be a good thing to upgrade improving filtration and flow through sump IMO.

but the overflow is technically 3/4" i think. it has a one inch pipe but it is reduced before reaching the bulkhead which is my reason for confusion.

looking it up its 1.25 to 1 inch bulkhead. so at almost 4 feet of head what pump would be best?
