I've gone through 3 heaters in the last year on my 20 gallon. I can't remember all of the brands at the moment, but I was wondering what your all's opinion was on the best brand/type. I'm tired of listening to the aquarium store employees... That, or my luck is awful!

Tank is a 20 gallon FYI. Thanks for any and all help!

Can't say enough good things about these heaters...have 2 of them. Come with controller and remoter temperature sensor. They are a great way to safeguard your tank. Plus, the magnetic heater mounts rock! (way better than suction cups that always fail)

I have never liked the heaters that mount on the top. I use a total submersible one that has a actual temperature setting. They are more expensive than the top mount kinds. But they are easier to hide. What about the ones you had failed?

In my experience glass heaters tend to no go bad. I have one glass heater I've been running for 4 years. My new Ehiem one for the DT is also glass.

I have never had luck with heaters and I have owned pretty much all brands.. I use a ranco temperature controller with a heater. Also some of the aquarium controllers can do a good job like aquatronica or Digital aquatics.

You just use the controller to control the heater, you just turn the heater up higher than what you have the controller set at.

I've had a Won pro heat titanium heater for about eight years now and still works flawlessly. With my luck though I'll probably find it DOA when I get home now that I've said that, lol.

I was going to suggest this as well! I have owned A LOT of heaters myself and I really like this one. They are a bit on the pricey side but worth every penny IMO!

Im all about the jager heaters. I've had tanks for 8 years not and they have outlasted and out performed the rest. Once i set them to their temp they are good to go !
