Got this bubble coral about five days ago, from a trusted local vendor.

Tank is newish. Coralline is starting to grow. I have some easy SPS doing okay. I will post all the parameters shortly. I’m due to test.

Anyway, a very tiny piece of vertical skeleton, septa I think it’s called, broke off while I was gently turkey basting during the initial dip. It looked like a tiny new growth on the side, and it came loose so easy that I didn’t really think anything of it.

Fast forward five days, and it seems that the tiny piece that broke off was attached to a bubble or something. And it still hasn’t fully inflated, even in low light and flow.

How should I handle this? Slice off that hanging piece, followed by an iodine dip? Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I would attempt to repair the skeleton with super glue gel. That way the polpy doesn’t become damaged or start to melt. I would glue in the red area, as seen in my drawing. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that I would just move it to a lower light/ low flow area of the tank and leave it alone.

Do not cut the polyps that are hanging off, that will likely cause an infection and kill off the whole polyp.
