Looking for thoughts on this coral, to me I would be freaked out about AEFW but I have not added a coral or anything other than 2part and saltwater to this tank in over 2 years.

This coral has been struggling for a year although all others seem very happy and have grown a lot. This one often would have filaments out and just not look well. Today I noticed the tissue issue, just curious if this pattern is common place as to me I had only seen it look like this when pests are involved.

Thanks

Do you mean the 2 white stripes in the middle? What is the picture in the upper left corner (?the way it is supposed to look)? It would be nice to know your parameters, the size of the coral (is that the whole thing, how much flow, light its getting, is there anything next to it that could be stinging it? i.e. other coral. Any trauma, etc

yes the blotches and stripes, that is a hammer but is 12 inches away even though it doesn't look that way i do not think the sweepers could reach it.

I'll get a better picture once i can grab my wifes phone. it is and efflo about 5 inches around but mosly has just encrusted. It developed the white marks that look almost like bite marks in the past few days.

Those actually look too big to be bite marks. Turn off your flow and take a turkey baster to it and watch for anything to come off it. If it’s aefw you will see them fly off it from the pressure of the baster. Some corals are just not happy with all the variables that they are put under. If you are able to you might want to move it to a different location. A lot of times different flow and lighting will turn one around.

OH ok - the picture is a little deceiving lOL - I didnt know if it was 1/2 inch or 5 inches. It might be nice to hear your parameters. and as others have said - maybe it needs different conditions

No parameters have been off recently but (a big oops), I did go a bit crazy trying to kill off some dino's after I made the lazy mistake of using chemiclean to wipe out some cyno. I swung some parameters way to quick with vibrant and of all things both my Garf Bonsai's receded. Then my DI resin was letting off ions and I am not sure how long it took me to catch that but TDS was at 24 when I did.

So yeah I think it is the result of chasing a magic bullet instead of being a good reef keeper. I am guessing this is some sort of peel, but my past experience a decade plus ago it was always a STN from base or ugly RTN. This is a FTS from a couple months ago on the upswing. The coral in question is center front lower in the pic.

No offense to vibrant - my guess is thats part of the problem. I had similar lesions (and deaths) after using vibrant...
