This is 2 days of rapid tissue loss. This coral has been in this position for weeks and been happy. The corals around it all seem happy and normal, but this one is losing tissue quickly. Nothing major has changed in the tank lately. We redid some rock work a few weeks ago after getting new corals. We dipped everything.

125Gal tank

PH 7.9-8.1 daily
Sal 1.025
Temp 78.5
Alk 7.0 (lower than usual)
Ca 400 (also lower than usual)
Mag 1320
Po4 .19
NO3 Undetectable

We've had undetectable nitrates for some time. We've been slowly adding more coral/fish food to the mix to try and bring that up. Had some hair algae and cyano lately.

Skimming, filter socks every 3rd day, and running 6 hours on chaeto. Chaeto hasn't grown by 25% even in a month.

Your numbers look good. IMO I would bring my specific gravity up a tad and mag up above 1350ppm. There’s is always the issue that it could be just that one coral if everything thing else checks out. Could anything be sitting on it or stinging it at night in that area?

I dosed ca, alk, and mag to get them up to normal levels....nothing is really sitting too closely to it. Does this coral do "polyp bailout"?

Yes “polyp bail out” occurrence can happen but when I have seen it it had happened without the mother bleaching and polyps reestablish elsewhere in the tank.

Not sure if causing your issues but your nutrients are out of balance.. I would get your N03 up to detectable levels and P04 down to around .03

I have had something like with one of hammer corals. Two others in my tank are fine and doing great, but one I had for a couple years just one day starting losing heads.

Turning down my skimmer run time, turning off the fuge light, and will probably dose Potassium Nitrate tomorrow. The coral is about half dead today. Don't think it's going to make it much longer. Things around it even seem unhappy now. I don't know what's going on but it's killing me. :(
