Lost power last week for 30 hours. Pumps were maintained during the day with a generator. During the night, we used several battery powered air pumps to maintain flow. No lights for the 30 hours. Tank temp was within limits. 5 days later, several of my SPS have white tips/tissue loss and decreased polyp extension just proximal to the tissue loss. Should I cut the tips off? Any help is much appreciated.

Why would you have a alk spike with the power outage? Seems as though you maintained your tank. If temp was okay i don't get it.

Saying that this is a characteristic of a rapid spike in dkh. Was it because of a power outage? IDK.

Allen, are you vodka dosing?

Alk is 7.7 dKh, but specific gravity is 1.028. Will have to decrease it slowly. I am hoping I do not lose the colony (garf bonsai). Good thing is that I have frags of it.

1.028 isn't that bad. You normally keep around 1.026-27 correct? That Garf you have is really nice!

You guys get hit by that storm too? I'm in NC and power was out for 3days. I ran both my vortechs and return with a generator. Everything looks fine now, except for a few SPS, they stn from the base slighty.
