I have two Aquatop Titanium 200W heaters. It's safe to place them horizontaly under the skimmer stand (from egg crate)?

In the manual indicated to place the heater verticaly.

Thanks

I have neo therms that are placed horizontal but they aren’t under anything. They are suctioned to the sides of the sump.

I believe instruction says vertical so that the heater temp sensor that's located at top of unit will read correct water temp. If placed horizontal and bottom of tank/sump, it may read lower water temp than actual. U can still place it horizontally at bottom, but I'd monitor water temp using another source and adjust heater setting accordingly.

Fyi, i had a 200-300w that was close to the side.of my sump, i believe it lead to my sump cracking. It may have actually touched the glass or been very close-i couldnt be certain. Also had one partially melt the top of a mag pump, so be cautious to were it is at.

I always keep the top of the heater, with electrical cord, out of the water, even fully submersible heaters.

But yes, horizontal under the skimmer stand is fine. If it's in the bubble laden skimmer output, the water temp may be lower as mentioned above.

If they have the external controller it does not matter which way they are positioned. They should have a remote sensor which should not go next to the heater element

How accurate external controllers? Those AquaTop Titanium Heaters shows 78, but it must be 73 (room temp, verified by digital thermometer in the tank). +5 degrees is not seems to be very accurate...

Web site manual says yours is accurate to +/-2 degrees.

I have Finnex and JBJ Ti heaters, no Aquatop
The controllers on mine can be adjusted to a known temp. I dont see where yours has that option.
To me its not a big deal. I have my apex turn them on at 78F and off at 78.4F I have the heaters set to come on at below 79F. In case the apex goes wacky the heaters will turn themselves off at 79.2F before cooking the tank.

Hmmm, seems that the tank is heated from 22 to 25c without the heaters.

Maybe from pump, powerheads, skimmer and 6x39W T5.

Could be
I have a UV, pumps and lights. They all add heat. Sometimes too much heat in summer.
