Tivos IM Nuvo 75 ext build thread

A few updated photos. I added some galaxia and rock flower nem, but didn't like the areas i wanted to place them so i broke out some of my old stored LR and added a few pieces to mount and place them where i'd like. I still wasn't happy so i switched some things around. I think it looks nice but not sure if i'm going to keep it like this. I'm never really happy with my rock scapes i guess.

I have to get my DSLR out of the closet and get some better pics.

I'm getting a couple of the new Noopsyche K7 pro III V3 wifi fixtures. I plan to pull the T5 hybrid and run an extruded aluminum tube the length of the tank and mount the Noops on the ends with the mitrasLX7 in the middle. I'll post some pics when they come in and start that little project.

a little update on the lighting.

I purchased a couple of the NooPsyche K7 PRO III V3 140W fixtures and swapped out my 24 inch aquatic life T5 hybrid.

i picked up a couple 36 inch predrilled extruded aluminum rails off amazon and some mending plates to create a new hanger. i put the mitras LX7 in the middle with the two Noops perpendicular at the ends. So far the colors look decent and i see more pop, but only running the LPS program right now until critters can acclimate a little. Running the noops on the LPS preset because the SPS or SPS/LPS program is super bright. I'll get some pics up of the lights running, but in the meantime i just wanted to post some of the hanger build pics and some super blue shots.

adding a few extra holes on the extruded aluminum rails with the mending plates.

mounted the mitras LX7 in the center parallel

used some stainless nuts as cheap spacers to give more room for fan intake

mounted the first NooPsyche K7 PRO III V3 and used a nut with soft compression washer to space it like the mitras

all three mounted. Will trim the ends an inch out from the Noops so they don't stick out so far but i can still move out another inch if need be for coverage. i think i'll be fine though

Looks great! I just finished setting up my IM 75 EXT this past weekend and loving it as well.

How far away from the water line did you hang your light?

thanks for the thumbs up. i love the tank and the ability to access everything including the sides of the stand.

i run the fixture 13 inches from the surface of the water and all is fine. running all lights at 80% right now but had to go lights out for a while, then with all blues at 15% when i had another dang bought with Dinos (3rd time in 2 years, 1st with this tank).

another vacation when the tank wasn't fed enough while out and nutrients dropped too much. Lost 3 colonies thanks to them . things have bounced back and all is great. will have to get more pics up with all the lights on when i find my correct lens filter for the camera. will post soon.

Yes I love the stand on this tank as well! One of the reason I went with IM and thanks for the height info.

I starting with looking at waterbox but then saw the complaints about the sump. Which I totally agree that their sump to be updated. I also hear about a chaotic transition and mine took weeks lol

I started with trigger systems sump on the 60 underneath the stand then decided on doing a remote sump in the basement and went with a synergy reef sump. Couldn’t be happier

i'll soon have the capacity for some insane flow on mine. i got the first MP40 on sale and came into some early xmas cash with a nice bonus at work. I ordered a second MP 40 to run off the other end, so i can get the gyres out and clean up the interior a little better. the MP 40's are over kill but i love the echotechs because they are so easy to clean and move a ton of water if i need it.

right now i am battling with low temps and found that a lost a couple outlets on my apex power bar. temp being one!!

picked up an ink bird and another ebo jager heater to get things back in line until i can PU a new power bar.

I’m running one mp 40 and two reef octopus octo pulse 2 with a hydros wave engine. Makes for very controllable and random flow. Not fun losing outlets That control heat. I’m running EBo’s and have good luck with them over the years but I did bite the bullet on the helio heaters but have yet to hook them up. Needless to say I have high hopes for them because of the price.

Cool setup everyone! I'm running 1 jebao mcp-120 gyres and an old icecap 1k gyres but will eventually replace the 1k down the road. 2 ehiem heater with an inkbird controller and jabeo mdc-6000 return pump.

Minor update

IM nuvo is still a pleasure to own. I have been battling cyano and some GHA after my cerameco cave structure had the fastest rtn event I've ever had which wiped out the growth on the entire piece. I pulled the piece and purchased some florida LR and things are getting way better and have stabilized. I was able to frag some pieces and redistribute. I have implemented UV again and bumped up my lighting intensity.

I really like the LR, but miss my cerameco structure
Getting the rock structure to my liking is a battle and I'm never satisfied. Here's a few pics of my previous formation and I've since changed it again. Not sure I'll ever be satisfied, but i need to stop messing with it so things can get settled. i have 25 lbs of TBLR treasure chest sand coming in this week to help more with biodiversity and I will get some pics of that when it arrives. i'll also get up some shots of the UV set up for anyone to comment on.

if pics look wierd it's because i took them via screen shot using my live cam on the tank. I have a couple blue light filters, one of which is mounted on the live cam and the other for normal pics is missing. i misplace everything arrrrgg! getting old LOL

i chipped, scraped and pressure washed the cerameco structure that i had the RTN event with and put it back in the display. it colored up quickly and now i have what i think is a little better aquascape. growth has been slow and no losses so far after the last event. i gave away my larger green picillopora to try and control some of the spawning that happened in my last tank where it was all over the pace. Still a lot more to do as i have a flipping bubble algae issue that i'm trying to control. I'm having to do constant manual removal but it's not that labor intensive.

picked up a new toy from ATB

It's the Elegance 150RS

i had issues right off the bat and i was NOT Happy with ATB USA at all.

first thing was that this was NOT the skimmer advertised on the web site. The skimmer they show has external cordage and the one i received has the airline and power running up and through the standpipe. This makes things a bit more complicated when routine maintenance is required. This Hobby is complicated enough at times

second thing was when i received it the jecod pump that i requested was supposed to have an ATB machined custom volute and it only had the stock jecod with the purple pinwheel.

third was when i looked at the pump it was sitting awkwardly so on further inspection i saw that one of the titanium screws holding the pump mounting plate to the based was tightened down too tight and pulled through the piece so it sat up higher on one corner. (easy fix but shouldn't have to be fixing a pump after unboxing.

fourth issue was the intake venturi nipple had popped off from the glue into the volute so i would need to strip the glue and ream it out for remounting.

fifth was that this skimmer base didn't come with any rubber feet for sound dampening and when i mounted the plate for the pump and tightened it. the titanium screws protruded out the bottom of the base plate and would be in direct contact with the bottom of the sump (no good but easy fix with extra rubber pads i have)

pretty skimmer when assembled though but i decided to contact ATB and return the skimmer. AFter i contacted them i received a call from Paul Dubios from ATB USA. he reviewed the pictures and agreed i was mislead. He stated that they received the sealed package right from aquarium technik (which is sad) so it was already wrapped, packaged and labeled as the unit described. After Speaking with Paul we agreed on a significant discount if i decided to keep the skimmer. I kept the skimmer because i can easily make the fixes and get this thing running to see what it could do.

after i had it installed i noticed right away that the skimmer is way underpowered with the DC 800 (DCS1200) jecod. ATB Europe labeled this as a DC 800 and after putting on my RMB meter i found out this pump was only pushing 320 gph and 450 lph air at max power. That's okay if all i wanted to do was skim slow and dry but gives very little tunability since i have to close off the wedge pipe much more than i would like just to push to the cup. I have another Jecod that pulls 520 lph so i'm going to see if that can mount up. the pump measurements are almost identical but i may need to do some acrylic modding on the intake hole if the pump sits a little higher (will report back)

Overall it is quiet and skims well dry but is slow and underpowered. I would not recommend this skimmer unless you can confirm that you are getting what is advertised via pictures from the USA vendor. This is the first issue i've ever had with ATB in many years and it was very disappointing. Just Glad Paul was willing to work with me either way.

Thanks a lot. My tank shots are awful. I tried my old pentax dslr and it's been so long since I've used it that I've forgotten how to set it for good shots. Omg getting old . I think I'll stick to my cell for a while until i figure out the dslr.

I have been battling aiptasia for a while but have started making progress. i had a big Aiptasia underneath my toadstool island that i didn't see. i started seeing tiny ones popping up on the sand bed and when i moved the island i found the big guy. i blasted it with F- aiptasia and it hasn't come back but more tiny ones started popping up all over-ARRRG!. I've been hitting them off on on with the F-aiptasia and it seems to be keeping them at bay, but i'll eventually go the predator route and maybe get some Berghia nudis. My CBB is gone now after being bullied into not eating and ended up stuck to my MP40 grill. My clown turned evil after getting along with everyone so well over the years. He looks fine and eats but something is up with him. He used to be a big swimmer but lately just hides in the grotto.

I did get a new center light for my bar and swapped out the LX7 for a new Orphek Natura icon. I'm really liking it and love the fact that it doesn't bleed a ton of light into the room like my LX7 did.

Still a work in progress and hope i can get a handle on the dumb Aiptasia. I'll try and post more but i had some medical issues that took the fun out of things for a while, Back on track now!!!
