TKO in the First Round

One of my 5 Dartfish looks like he lost the fight in the first round. He was fine during the evening feeding last night. This morning I found him like this sticking out half way of my Diamond Goby's bedroom. He is still alive for now believe it or not with half a face and one eye. Not sure which one of my fish attacked him but my Kamohara Blenny acting funny turning from black to a dull grey color for a minute or two when near the Dartfish. Maybe just smells the injured flesh. Never seen my Kamohara Blenny change colors before and have had him for 2yrs.

You may find you’ll have to euthanise that Dartfish, it’s unlikely he’ll survive like that. Dartfish in the wild aren’t found in groups as big as 5 so it’s likely that he was kicked out of the group. Usually these guys form bonded pairs or small groups of 3-4.

The other 4 are in bonded pairs. The two pairs have there own separate cave. Funny that it took months for this guy to get kicked out of the group. I tried to capture him today when he was partially out of the cave but he moves back in and hides. I will continue to try to catch him.

So now I am confused. I just found this article on Barred ( Zebra ) Dartfish. Maybe I should of bought in even number instead of an odd number.

Temperament:

Zebra Dartfish are great community fish. They are very peaceful and reef safe. They are very active and very fast swimmers and should be kept with other fish that will not get spooked by their activity level and fast movements of this Dartfish. They are a schooling fish so you will need to keep at least 6 of them together in the same tank. Based on my experience with them, they seem to do better when you have 8 or more which is why I would recommend keeping them in schools of 10. They work very well as dither fish potentially allowing other fish to feel more comfortable through seeing other fish swimming around in the aquarium.
