Hello All,

First time setting up a saltwater aquarium myself, although I have always enjoyed them from afar.

Tank has been running from late November now and once cycle was complete I have slowly been adding Fish and inverts to the tank.

The tank has been running 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5-8ppm nitrate, 9.6 DKH, salinity of 1.025, and a temperature of 25c.

The tank is currently has 2 small clownfish, 1 very shy fire shrimp, a turbo snail, 2 nassarius snails, and 2 blue legged hermit crabs.

I have a Nero 3 in the back for the majority of my flow alongside the return pump.

Looking to add some hardy soft coral in the coming weeks once I check my mag and Ca parameters are stable.

Below are some early pics, need a filter for my phone.

Any advice and criticisms are welcome!

So far everything is going well.
Current parameters are:
Temp 25.00C
Salinity 1.0255
Ph 8
Nitrate 8
Phosphate 0.018
Mag 1400
CA 440.

Think I will be looking at getting my first soft corals in the coming weeks.
Threw a load of shells into the tank, The hermits love swapping shells around.

Also I have been playing around with the settings for my Nero 3, below is the settings screen for what I'm currently using and a picture of the position in the tank, its pushing in the opposite direction to the flow of my return pump.

Anyone have any input on how the above looks?

Added my first couple corals a few days back now.

The polyps took a couple days before they full opened but now they seem happy. The little mushroom has been happy since Day 1.

Will give the tank a few more weeks before I add more.

Currently sat on 0 phosphates according to my Hanna Phosphorous checker so thats the next hurdle to try and cross. Nitrates are around 5-10 according to my Red sea test, think I will up feeding a touch and reduce my weekly water changes as all other parameters are good.

I run mine on “Reef Crest” mode 24/7.

Couple more Corals in place now, got this little Zoa frag and a hammer coral.

Both seem happy after a double dip and a week in their places so going to leave them be.

Got a bit of brown hair algae at the moment but overall happy with how the tank is slowly coming along.

A few changes over the last couple weeks, added a Conch and 2 more corals.

The conch is by far the best addition to the tank, its cleared the place of algae over the course of a few days, better thank all of my other CUC combined.

Got a different coloured Zoa and a torch coral aswell, both seem to be doing fine!

Its been quite some time since i posted an update on the tank.

Had a battle with Dino's which the tank has made it through, but all in all things are going well. Added a urchin to the tank and he has been a demon at eating the algae on the rock and glass.

hopefully 2024 brings more success!

Thanks, its coming along nicely now.
Looking to start a larger tank soon as only having the integrated sump on the back of the tank makes things harder at times.
