hi guys, im thinking to set up a refugium in my sump and I have a spare tmc photon light, im wondering if this would be possible to use and what colour spectrum should be used
Have a look at this!
Most refugium-specific lights contain predominately blue and red LED diodes that produce a visually violet or purple spectrum of light. This spectrum (600 - 700 nm) is popular in horticulture and provides the macroalgae with spectrum peaks at the exact wavelengths they need for optimal growth.
Aim for a Kelvin between 3,000 - 5,000 if you can adjust the TMC lights in this way. Of not, this will be roughly the spectrum you're looking for! You maybe able to replicate this!
