TMC V2 ATO want to DIY the same

I recently got a brand new STANDARD TMC ato with single float switch.
What I see in the box is suprised me.
All basic stuff like-Adapter, Y Splitter, small return pump, float switch and a mounting bracket.
But most of the DIY videos ask to use the RELAY switch in between but TMC guys are not using any relay switch its just direct connection.
My question is----
If I do a DIY same like TMC ATO will it work or do I still need an relay in between? And why these tmc guys are not using any relay.

I believe that the whole system is 12V (switch, pump, plug), so no relay is needed.
