To add a second Gyre or change orientation...?

So my Gyre 150 seems to need supplemented due to my scape, or it needs moved. Right now it's on the side pane (300DD), but I have two "islands" and I think the first(closest to gyre) is blocking the flow.
I can turn the pump up and catch movement on the other side of the tank, but then the closer island and it's inhabitants get hit too hard...OR it creates a bald spot in the sand on the far left...just look at the pic...
Has anyone had similar experience with just not getting it RIGHT in regard to gyre placement? any help or advice is appreciated.

Have you tried moving it up? It look low in the picture. I have mine @4" below the water line, you'll just need to adjust the output direction if it pushes too much water to the surface.

How did you set up the alternating times? Did you put them on a timer? Thanks
