To catch a predator FISH...

....the fastest most efficient method is to go up to Home Depot and buy a sheet of clear plexiglass.....also buy a knife specifically made to score the Plexiglass... so it can be handcut to size. Youtube "how to cut plexiglass" to learn.

The handcut piece of plexiglass must must must must fit inside your tank as a SNUG DIVIDER! Very important the plexiglass is snug on both vertical walls. Even a 1/4" gap the fish will find it and escape

Move any rockwork so either the extreme left or extreme right of the tank is 25% free open water. Absolutely no obstructions in this open area, 100% open water.

Have the plexiglass in the tank but like at an open angle. Open this plexiglass like a wide open door.

Lure the fish into the open area by chasing it into the open water area with your net.

Close the plexiglass QUICKLY bc the fish will know very quickly something ain't right and will swim like a bullet to get out of Dodge..

If you fail on the 1st attempt to secure the open area with plexiglass.... wait about 5mins and try again. Fish don't like to be chased with a net and will enter the open area if chased.

2nd method is just have the open area open and WAIT for the fish to swim in there after being lured with food in that open area.

Once the fish is in the open area with the plexiglass snug against all walls and no room for escape.... netting it is a B R E E Z E.

And of course, once fish is out its minimal work to re-aquascaoe that 25% area.

Taaa Daaah!

For larger fish, I have also used egg crate to pen the fish into 25% of the tank. I found that the holes in the egg crate allowed me to move it much faster than solid material (like glass or plexiglass) because of the back pressure in the water. This process can work for many hard to catch fish.
