To clean your rock work or to not???

Curious on your thoughts if you should or should not, or if you do, or do not use a power head or pump to blow the detritus/accumulation of junk off of your rock work from time to time?

I noticed the other day while using my algae magnet that a bunch of junk came flying off of the rocks as I went past it with the algae magnet. I haven't blown the junk off of the rocks in quite some time but I plan too next weekend when I do my water change.

What are your thoughts??? GO!!!

I maxijet every thing except the sand (for obvious reasons) before I do water change.

If you have alot accumulated I probably would start off slow like half your rockwork at a time so you dont overdo it thats just my opinion though

Yup this is how I do it .... I am sure I am missing alot of rock on the lower bottom of the tank but it's a start

I read an article somewhere of a guy who used 2 diatom filters and basically created a huge storm/surge of water through his tank a few times a year to clean the rock of detritus. He said it was his key to success for over 20 years of successful reef keeping.

I think when your tank has a lot of open rock space or shelf like pieces this can be an issue for sure.
