Just switched salts to Tropic Marin pro and have been using a Trident to keep track of levels. I've noticed that Tropic Marin Pro has lower Alk levels and have been seeing a slow drop in Alk over the few days. I do a 1 Gallon AWC every day on a 20 Gallon Frag Tank. My question is can I keep up with the AWC's or do I need to start dosing here soon? Things seem to be looking great and am just unfamiliar with these low ALK levels.

Levels:

6.38 ALK
457 CA
1441 MG

As long as you have disent Ca and Mg - just dose some NaHCO3 - I think you can find it at the grocery store as bicarbonate - at least we can in Sweden. I check an calculator based on a nominal value of KH around 8. It says 5.1 g NaHCO3/100 l water will raise KH from 6.3 to 8. I never have tested this calculator - therefore - test with lower dose and try to learn how much you need in just your aquaria. however - if it works well - you sooner or later need to dose at least Ca too. in that case - google Balling or two part.

Sincerely Lasse
