Hello everyone, im setting up a 125 gallon tank and need some advice.Im not sure if the glass is tempered or not so im a little leary of drilling it.What do you all think of cpr aquatics hob overflow kit? Thanks for any thoughts.

Yeah i've checked out those youtube methods, all the results from the polarized glasses and the 3d glasses point to untempered glass. So if i do drill i think im going to use the herbie method, what size pipe would be big enough for the main siphon?Im gonna try to use a single mag 12 return.

1" pvc will suffice, as it can run gravity fed up to 960gph.

Ok thanks for the advice,i guess i can put a ball valve on my return line as the mag 12 is rated at 1250 gph.I appreciate the tips,i have a 75 gallon reef which has been thriving quite well considering its not setup up right,no skimmer and only an empty canister filter with live rock and a media filter in it.Im going to take my time and save up and get this 125 built correctly.Oh yeah i was on bulk reef supply looking at internal overflow boxes and was wondering what size would be appropriate for my tank and they recommended one that was rated at 1800 GPH.Any suggestions on what size to get or possible build myself to save money?

If it were my tank, I would use two 1" drains. That is the way my Oceanic 140 reef ready came from the manufacturer and the same way I had my 75 plumbed before. IMHO, it is always better to have more drain capacity, in case something goes wrong. I tied the two 1" drains from the tank into a single 1½" drain line to the sump.

Your 1250gph return won't be 1250gph after head loss.
