I have been having an issue with keeping my flame hawkfish out of my overflow. I go fishing for him to rescue him, only to find him back in the overflow the next day. My wife seems heart broke because her favorite fish isnt living in the main display tank. Does anyone have this issue with any of their fish? Does anyone have any ideas on good ways to prevent fish from getting into an overflow?

Thanks

My neon goby would stay in the lower screen of my over flow . I was afraid he would go over but every day he would come out . Now he is king of all the small hole in my live rock.

I had a fish that loved the overflow. This was before I got a tighter fitting top. I would suggest using some of the clear mesh over the overflow weir to keep him out. Just make sure to note if needs cleaned.

I'm curious how he keeps ending up in the overflow? Is he jumping over the top or fitting through the weir?
On my overflow there is a halfmoon cut out that I think he is using to kind of jump over. The rest of the overflow just has slots and I know he isn't getting through those.

Clear mesh? What kind? What is non toxic ?

They sell it at a few of the common fish stores online. It is clear and about1/4" gaps. I use it for many things.

This. Zip tie it vertically until it touches your screen top. Anything horizontal over the overflow will catch the fish out of water and let it die. 20210220_113119.jpg

This looks like a great option. I will try it out. Thank you!
