To glue or not to glue?

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question. I am in the process of setting up the sump for my 55g tank. I have the plumbing all cut and fitted and the joints seem tight. Do you all think I should glue it together or will it be water tight as is?

This is for the drain from the external overflow box. It comes from the bulkhead and drops about 20" then a 90* turn for 4" then a 90* turn for the final drop into the filter sock.

IMO it should be glued to make sure it doesn't leak. Just make sure to have some unions so you can take it back apart when needed.

I dont glue the drain in the overflow so It can be removed if needed. Everything else gets glued as in plumbimg 101.
Like above said unions and threaded fittings make removal easy if needed.

It will eventually leak and creep salt at any connection that isn't cemented especially on bends. There are exceptions but why bother. Use a union as started before if you need to remove a drain for whatever reason.

Good to put in unions at strategic spots. But maybe it's too late now.
