I have a 60 cube with 2 hydro 1150 powerheads. They are mounted on the corner overflow pointed in opposite directions one pointed slightly down and the other slightly up. Plus the return pump. Dont have any dead spots from what I can see, when I feed with the return off and just the powerheads on the food goes everywhere. That being said my first 2 fish (2 small clowns) seem like they are always swiming hard. They always seem to get in an area between the rock and wall where there is a pretty strong current and swim their little tails off. Maybe this is normal but I was worried maybe to much flow for them.

When I first added my clownfish (babies) to my display tank, they moved from a QT tank that had a bubbler and a HOB so they were definitely shocked by the amount of flow. They have since become more used to it and I hadn't seen any adverse effects. Now my flow I make random and it varies throughout the day (lower at night and higher/more random during the day).

How long have yours been in the tank for?

Oh and Welcome to R2R!

#reefsquad anyone have experience with hydro 1150 powerheads?

Been in the tank about 5 days now. The first day stuck in the corner as expected. They shuffled out the next day slowly. The larger of the 2 (only like 1.5" long) at first found a small cave and hang out there. But the smaller one (who I am pretty sure is retarded) wont stay put and the bigger one goes out to find him and be next to him. When I feed the bigger one is pretty active and snagging food the little one seems to be so intent on swimming dont see him eat much. I know 5 days is early on hopefully they calm down.

Thanks loving R2R lot of information on here. This is my first tank and seemingly spend hours each day reading and trying to figure this out. Will post pics of my tank when I get home later on.

Please do post a picture. One better, you can start a build thread and earn the "Build Thread Contributer" badge too :)

Are these clowns the only fish in the tank?

As Jon mentioned start a build thread.
Lots more info coming your way.
As you mentioned that the. Kien's been in your tank 5 days now I assume you didn't quarantine them :(

They are the only fish in this tank. My LFS had them in their own qt tank for a month before I brought them home. They were treated with copper and parasite treaments. I dont have room for a QT tank so they are helping with this. I visited them several times and they were always the only ones in the tank. Not the perfect situation but better than no QT at all.

The reason the smaller one doesn't is worrying me after 5 days.
Keep a close eye on them as one month in QT isn't enough but you already know that.
If they show up with something than you are forced to get a hospital/QT anyways.
Keep us posted.
