To paint or not to paint

The Krylon is available at Home Depot under the Brand Krylon and also under Rust-Oleum, they offer a paint called Fusion, that is the correct paint.

As far as acrylic, you can purchase a 48" x 24" x 1/8" plexiglass sheet on eBay for $ 60.00 shipped and the seller usually cuts it to your specifications for free (For smaller aquariums the 24" x 24" sheet is only $ 19).

Ya I used black cloth on my last one attached with velcro on top n bottom trim. Idea was I could change out color. Sometimes blue some times black and on holidays could play with funny stuff - like cloth with a turkey on it or Santa and so on. The back of tank was semi accessible on this tank tho

Yes!... The cloth or Nylon panels are also a great idea and will give you a lot of room to change it to your preference as often as you desire.

Look into photography backgrounds, they are nylon, water resistant and dont crimple, they are sold by the roll and the smaller setups (Like 24" to 36") already come with velcro sewn into the edges. I believe I purchased a few of those in the past to take stock photos... These are only 24" tall by 36" in length, but fairly inexpensive. You may be able to do much better visiting a fabrics store and purchasing by yards though.

Starting a new tank and before I do the final placement and add water. Do I paint the back black? Does anyone have any pics of painted backs?

Previously I used heavy black static cling wrap I bought from Amazon.com. it's sold to photographers who want to develop film in a bathroom. The downside is you can never eliminate all the tiny air bubbles.

I don't have any experience with magnetic glass cleaners/scrapers. If used on a painted back wall of the aquarium, would they begin to scrape off the paint?

I painted my 90G before I water tested so temps would be warmer for the paint to adhere.

I just used double sided tape along the top on the black trim and stuck a vinyl sheet to it. hung easily and I can peek underneath when needed.
