Curious where the community is at with running skimmers on nano tanks. I'd love to hear why you choose to or not!

I'm looking at the 10-20 range for my next tank, probably a WaterBox Peninsula Mini 15. Mostly just curious what others are doing, though

Yeah, I'll probably start with stock, I just have extra time to research things now and will be busier when I can actually set it up(after moving) so I'm font-ending my research lol;Woot

Water changes are all you need a skimmer will remove to much I've tried one on my 24 gal which I've had running 13 years I use Tropic marine salt do 3 gal water change a week no issues at all.

Spend some time thinking about the direction of your tank. Fish only? LPS/SPS/Mixed reef? How often will you feed? How often will you perform water changes. A skimmer is nothing but a tool to help with import and export. Import being food and fish waste, export being N03 and P04 due to said fish and feeding. Water changes, Skimmer, Cheato reactor, fuge; they all have their place on a nano. As mentioned, if you feed heavily and don't perform water changes, you need nutrient export in some other manner. But if you perform regular water changes, then the answer is maybe. It's not a hard yes/no answer.

Coralbox 300.
I did 3 gal WC's a week for a year on my nano. Then 2 years with no WC's.
I have only done 3 10gal WC's on my 120 in 1.5 years.
So far no WC's on my 45 frag system.

I run a Icecap K1 nano in my IM 20P bare bottom. Tank has pair of clowns, 2 anemones(8" LTA and a 4" beaded) lots of SPS and zoas. I would say I feed medium. I do weekly 2 gallon water changes. I still have a small GHA problem that I pick out weekly. You would not believe the amount of dark skimmate that little skimmer removes every couple of days. I'm glad I have it and it works well.

Yes, because it helps keep my pH up to 8.2-8.3, using a scrubber attached to it. Before I added, pH was 7.7-7.9. Also, my nutrients are super low, (but not zero), which is nice. Lets me feed more.
