Hello all!

I've been looking for common upgrades to jbj 28g tanks like mine and i see a few threads recommending replacing the stock return pumps.

The stock ones are Accela 265gph pumps, and i run them in a wavemaker pattern, ie one on one off and switch, which gives me a roughly ~9x tank turnover per hour. Recommended replacement cause the location of the pump is so small is the Cobalt MJ1200 which pushes 295 gph, only a 30 gph increase.

I dont have sound issues with the stock ones, and they work but more turnover is better no? Just seems unneeded for a 9xto 10x change. Would it be better to switch to running both continuously and adding a second Jebao wave maker to the tank for flow changes? This solution would get me up to ~19x tank turnover

If your not having an issue I would just leave it be. If your wanting more flow add a wave maker and keep them on. If they get noisy look into an upgrade/replacement.
