So I’ll admit, I’ve been partly lazy, partly curious. And I’ve put of a water change for 2 months now. Wanted to see how everything held up. Tank is softy/LPS. Everything is flourishing. Corals looking good. Growth good. Polyp extension is great. Fish are great. I know I’m playing with Fire, and am waiting on something to go wrong. So I decided enough is enough, and I need to quit pushing my luck and just do the water change.
My main question is. About 2 months ago, I made up 20 gallons of RODI into my 32 g Brute. Have had the lid on tight the entire time, and a power head moving it the whole time as well. I took the lid off earlier, and it had a bit of a “musty smell,” for lack of a better word, but it subsided rather quickly. I tested the TDS, and it’s sitting at 5.
The output on my RODI is 0 TDS. So I’m guessing over the last 2 months, while it’s sat, it’s somehow accumulated 5 TDS.
Should I go ahead and mix my salt in this batch of water and use it?? Or should I just make another 20 gallons and not even take a chance??
What would you do?
