I enjoy looking at threads, It gives me ideas and inspiration to try things I may not have considered (i.e. different fish or coral arrangmenents) Its also nice to read through threads that dont try and hide the uglies or the bad side of the hobby. It becomes hard sometimes watching threads of amazing tanks doing the same thing you are and they "never have any problems and always look pristine" because they never post pictures or document when things arent going perfect.

Plus i think build threads are a good place to learn about equipment and other things. So when I have mine going I try to keep it up to date any time something changes, for the good or bad. My only thing Is i dont have a fancy camera for pictures and I am not going ot take the time to photoshop or light room my pictures and many people dont like following a thread that doesnt have good pictures

I agree and I wish more people would do this. Problems, and how to deal with them, are one of the most important things we can learn from each other.

I had a hard time posting pictures of my tank when it looked like this.

I mean... when "my friends" tank look like this! ;)

I would love if R2R showed users how many people were following their Build Threads (but not necessarily who). It may encourage more continuing build thread activity. Even if only the OP could see it. I bet there are a lot of relatively inactive posters following people's threads. Would also be cool to see number of views in the Thread page (like you see in the "today's Posts" lists).
Excellent idea.

I skim some, read all in others. Depends on the tone of the thread at times. Im ultimately here to learn but most of all for enjoyment. I love seeing others successes and failures. this is a hobby for most of us and we should be having fun!! If I see people being rude or deliberately trolling usually just move on.

I see my own tanks everyday and as result neglect my own build threads. Im more interested in following along with eveyone else.

I've got a Red Sea Reefer 250 and I go through, read, and comment on other reefer 250 build threads. I do searches in the Member Tanks forum for the threads and keep them bookmarked in my browser. Got (37) Reefer 250 threads bookmarked in all. There are a lot more 250 build threads in that forum but a lot haven't been active for a long time.

I check out as many as possible, can I catch them all, no. Some I follow, some I don't, but I do try to give everyone the same courtesy of at least looking and reading. I feel if they have taken the time to share, I should take the time to look. I can say out of EVERYONES build that I have seen offers something new to me or taught me something new or totally amazed me by the level of talent out there.

I try to read as many as possible. Really lik3 following other 75 gallon builds to get inspiration for mine

I always read the really big build threads in the large tank forum ..... that's about it.

I love them. Building a tank is one of my fav parts of the hobby, so I like seeing the creativity of others as well

@skimjim - good topic mate! I really enjoy putting my build thread together that I am still working on for my SCA Custom Rimless 150.
I am just waiting for my Synergy CL-44 sump and the matching 10 gallon ATO reservoir and then I can start adding water to this box and finally Finnish up this build thread.
Also, I also enjoy reading other threads in order to get different ideas, etc etc![/QUOTE]
