I purchased an awesome ELOS 120 rimless 80g from a local reef club member who bought it new 7 or so years. After getting it home and beginning to clean it up I noticed what looks to be some algae that got behind the seam on both sides. Is this anything to be worried about or am I panicking over nothing. The glass is thick and so is the silicone but I want to be better safe than sorry. What are y’all’s thoughts??

It should fine.. I can only imagine it’s from a scraper on the water line and somebody gouging the silicone… keep a eye on it but I wouldn’t sweat it.. Eleos are very nice and well built tanks.
Thanks for the reply! That looks to be what happened with a razor blade. From the outside the seam is perfect though. I hate to get rid of such a good tank over something that really isn’t a fail. But I also don’t want to wake up with puddles at my feet lol

That's not the seam, that's the "smear". If the silicone on the actual seam (between two pieces of glass) looks ok, then you're fine. Algae under the "smear" of silicone just looks ugly.

This tank may be a little different in that sense. I don’t think it has a smear. Just one large wall of silicone/glue holding the panels together.
