My toadstool coral grew next to a rock well when I removed him he has this gaping would what should I do what can I do?

Leave it alone. It will be ok. Looks like it was growing around the object.
 
Yeah it’s most likely fine. These things are nearly indestructible—I remember when I first got mine I accidentally dropped it face down on the floor and the top cracked. Swished it around in some tank water to clean it off and put it in the tank, and it was cranky for half a day then looked like nothing was ever wrong.

Does it come out and extend its polyps? Has it been cranky for a long time lately or behaving normally?

He’s been cranky but now that I moved him is polyps are out
 
These are very resilient and forgiving coral and will heal quickly and shed to the point that they looked like they were butchered with a pair of scissors.
