Toadstool coral

Hi Guys.

My toadstool coral is laying almost vertical as if the stalk isn't strong enough to hold the head. The heads polyps are still out but wondered if there is a way to get the toadstool more vertical ?

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 10
Calcium - 350
Magnesium - 1230
Alkalinity - 6.7
Phosphate 0.25

They get wilty like that when they're unhappy. As it settles in it will likely become more turgid

Make sure it has enough flow, they will lay down like that if not enough water movement

It's been like that a few weeks now, thought it might be temporary but a little more concerned now. Will try and give more flow and

Moved into a higher flow area a few days ago but still no improvement. If anything it looks worse considering moving from the sand bed up onto one of the rocks in the hope of even more flow. Shall I make the move now or give a few days as could be stropping at being moved.

What kind of light do you have at what intensity and what do you have for flow in the tank?

I would not give up so easily, I would want to know why is this bullet proof coral dying. If you can't keep this coral alive then its doubtful any coral will thrive, you should find the reason

Full tank picture attached taken a few weeks ago as I'm out currently.

I have a redsea led50 light that is set to 90% blues and 20% whites for 8 hours with a rise up and rise down.

Finger coral, zoas, acan, kenya tree and blasto coral all doing very well

I've just swapped the wave maker to the other side of the pump section to increase the flow on that side of the tank that solves the issue

Sounds good, I don't know what else you can try, looking at your tank and other corals, everything looks good, I think it is a positioning issue, its just not liking where it was placed for whatever reason. Good luck

Sarcophytons should be treated more like SPS flow wise compared to other leathers, they really benefit from broad intermittent med-gentle surges of flow, for instance : with some of the trickier species of the genus like S. elegans most have had best success treating it like an Acropora, strong light, and broad surges of flow.

Id get it up off the sand bed and get it up somewhere on the lower half of rock scape as to avoid light shock, but at least get it perched up somewhere that water flow can get around the entire thing, this will likely help it perk up as sarcos actually really appreciate decent flow.
laying on the sand bed like that is asking for a bacterial infection, which sarcophytons seem to be very susceptible to.

Thanks for this I have moved onto a rock and put the wavemaker and return pump in its area which will hopefully help it. It can only stay there temporarily as it is close to a torch however once it has recovered I can look at moving it again when it is happier and getting it settled somewhere permanently. Thank you for your help hopefully not too late

I think phosphate and salinity is high. I got the same problem with my toadstool a few weeks ago ( phosphate was at .26 ) but it got better when I tried to lower phosphate close to .1. Also the salinity seen kinda high too. included a picture when the toadstool is not happy.

Thanks that looks very similar to mine, I have done a reasonably big water change today so waters gone down to 1.026ish and will check the Phosphate in the morning. The moving of position and more flow doesn't seem to have improved things as of yet
