Well this is a tank I try to maintain and just came across this. Any thoughts. It is very old too

Ph - between 0 and .25
Cal - 500/510 (I know, high)
Ammonia and nitrate at zero

Here is a pic of how the tank is set up and where it is placed

They can be very temperamental. Does not look like it's dieing. Have you change direction of flow. Sometimes mine does not like direct flow. Give it a few days. Never heard of one spliting.......

I have never heard of on splitting either. This thing is years old but has been in our tank for 6-8 mths doing fine.
Last week it didn't really open up and this week I see this.

I did notice the heater was broken and the temp was at 71. I don't know how long it has been broken but getting a new one today so we will see how it looks by this weekend

Mine splits like that all the time as it grows. I think it's shedding when it does that. Mine does it every couple months and is doing now.

Sorry for the poor pic it's iPhone:)

Might be budding off a piece of itself. One of my leathers under another leather doesn't get much light so it drops pieces of itself (twice so far) probably hoping the self frags will relocate into a position with better conditions. Doesn't look like anything I'd worry about. Take progress pictures though. Be cool to document if it does frag itself.
