Toadstool frag / placement

Hey guys,

I got this sweet toadstool in my frag tank, unfortunately I think the plug it is on has aiptasia on it so I want to remove it before putting it into my DT. What is the best way to take it off the plug? Can I gently cut / pry it off where it is glued?

Also, I was hoping to just glue it straight to the rock in the DT. Is that spot ok or do you think that it is too much light? It is under a Hydra 100% blues

You probably need to attach something else to the frag if you cut it away and then attach that to the rock. Just gluing the tissue probably won't work because it will most likely create a layer of slime when cut. I can't comment on the lighting in that spot because I don't know much about LED's. I'm thinking toward the bottom of the tank should be fine.

+1. The gluing won't work. I'm going to look for a thread about how to reattach a leather for you.

You can gently pull it off but take extreme caution because they can release a sort of toxin!

Is it ok to glue it down via coral glue to a rock?

Is the aiptasia in a spot on the plug that you could break the plug enough to get the aiptasia off and not have to mess with the toadstool?

Well after closer examining the frag I noticed it was about 50% on a piece of rock and 50% on the plug. I pulled the rock part out and gently peeled the rest of the coral off which seemed to come off clean. I then glued the rock portion that the toadstool was attached to down on my LR. Unfortunately I may have stressed it too much. It has been deflated and no polyp extension... I hope it makes it.

It should be fine. I had one when I was moving rip from the base to about halfway up the stalk, I put a rubber band around it to hold it together and reattached it to some rock. It healed itself and is doing fine now. When you first **** them off they definitely deflate and look unhappy, but usually with good water quality they bounce back
