Not sure what to do… I have 2 large long polyp toadstools and 3 BTAs. I love them all. My tank is small, 20 gallons. Tank upgrade is not an option currently. Should I consider rearranging the whole tank? Should I cut off the big toadstool on the left to position it lower/to the left? Will that kill it?
Thanks for any advice

How long have they been touching each other?

The 3 BTAs and toadstool on the left are all on the same rock… I’d have to cut that one off to move it lower and away. The toadstool on the right is on its own island rock. But currently there’s not a good space for it.

You could try and move the one who’s on its own rock and gets a bit of elbow room for the btas and they may move on their own. But if they are not stinging each other it may be fine. I don’t know if they are know what I mean. I have a weeping willow toad that stung the heck out of a sea fan.

Ya.. they’ve been living closely like this for months I’d say… but the toadstools just keep growing… I’ve never seen any signs of harm on any of them. I suppose they are coexisting peacefully? I can’t imagine my nems ever moving… they have been happy in these current spots for at least 7 months..
If I cut the big toadstool off at its stalk and then moved it down.. would it die?

There’s a chance it could. You would want it to reattach itself to a rock. I’ve done it. The left over stump will regrow itself as well in the same spot.
