Hi all,

still new to this hobby.
I have a toadstool who doesn’t look too good.
Please see picture attached

I came home from work 6 days ago and there was a power cut on my street so nothing on my tank was running for about 4 hours.
Temperature dropped to about 22.5 degrees C
And obviously all corals closed up. All water parameters where and still are stable.

every coral opened up the next day except this toadstool.

I spoke to the LFS while I was there and they said it’s normal for toadstool to stay closed for 5 days to ‘heal and grow’

today, while I was doing a water change, I thought I would give it a touch and it feels relatively hard.
I must point out that I have never touched the coral itself before but I wasn’t expecting it to be hard.

My questions
1. Is it dead?
2. If not, is it normal for them to stay closed for so long.
3. Any further advice or help?

Thanks all

This guy is clearly skinned over due to inadequate water flow. Elevate it some more, blow on it with a turkey baster to get the film on it loosened and increase water flow towards it- not at it
They need moderate light and medium water flow to remain happy

Thanks for the reply.
I will give this a try,
Just to add before the power cut, i would have said this coral was striving and was really healthy with its position/lighting/flow

Mushrooms/ toadstools shrink if you poke/ touch them, so avoid this :)
They are relatively hardy so I'm sure it will return to its normal self given time :)

Just had two others this very week with similar and they reported theirs perked right up
