Hi all. Wasn’t sure where to put this. Been having a problem with my leather coral. It’s had this bald spot on it for a few weeks and won’t go away. All other corals are healthy looking and happy. Checked all my parameters and they’re as good as always. And I don’t have any other corals close enough to sting it. Not sure what the problem is. W

was wondering if anyone has had this happen or know what it is. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Leathers are hard to figure. They have some strange behaviors and can last for days and weeks. I sure wouldn't be worry about what I see in the photo.

Ya everything else seems to be fine. I did have some high nutrient water a month or more ago but I have it back under control. It has a slight brown appearance where the bald spot is

That bald spot appears when they're beginning to shed. Some shed faster than others due to params, etc. Don't be surprised if that "bald spot" gets bigger because it will, then it sheds the excess. That's how leathers grow.

I’m not sure. It wasn’t until this tank I finally got the know how on how it all works to keep everything healthy. I’ve had my share of learning experiences lol. This new tank seems to be doing well. That coral is 5x it’s size since I bought it. Never seen the molting thing yet

I agree leathers are a Hardy coral that pout for no reason at all. Temperamental coral for sure. Looks healthy and happy. They only thing I can think of is that the clown may be trying to host in that spot

I’ve had it in my tank for about 8 months now. Maybe it’s time it wanted to moult

You very well may be experiencing one now.

My clowns usually hide underneath it. My female seems to want to host my Duncan coral which is super happy
