Toadstool melting or shedding?

I've had a toadstool for about a month and a half now. After ten days of having it, it briefly opened up for a few days. For the last month though, it's been shriveled up. Is this melting or just shedding? Should I try moving it? It's in an area with medium flow.

hmm he doesn't look happy/good. maybe less flow and less light. I have a huge leather, he loves light and medium flow... but yours looks like its giving up. is everything else good in the tank?

Everything else has been doing great, getting a lot of growth on my LPS. Should I try moving him to an area with less flow and see if that helps?

unless anyone else chimes in, i would saw yes... but what is your flow now?

i would move him somewhere else.. i think less light just because he's not stretching for it... (though most seem to like light). .. low/medium flow is usually good too..

mine is bright green in high flow, high light.. but its also about 2 feet wide and 2 feet tall so it can handle most things

Toadstool are finicky, the less you touch and move them the better. Give it time to bounce back. I have one in high flow and high par and it does fine and another and lower flow and low par also does fine. They adjust very well to different environments but the slightest hump from a snail and it will slump over for an hour. Also I use my toadstool as a good sign it's definitely time for a water change, first coral to show signs of slumping. Long story short just give it some time they are weird corals.

good point... i was assuming its been like this constantly... if its just like this temporarily its likely just upset.. mine flips out pretty easy (change in flow, touching it, water change etc. ).. they are like little babies.

My toad stool did this in my last tank when I stopped taking care of it and split into like 5 heads. Probably as a ditch effort to survive and now I have 4 of the 5 heads in my current reef still growing.

Yeah it's been about a month closed up. So a while. But still changing shape each day, just slumped.

At what point will I be able to tell if it's on its last leg?

When it splits or tissue falls apart

Now I'm actually wondering if I have a larger issue in the tank. My newer star polyps started doing this. There's an area where the dark purple base has turned lighter and powdery, with the polyps gone from it. Pic of the polyps open and closed.

Metrics are still the same, just mag up to 1320.

Is this a water issue or does it look like a disease?

Take some pics with just the white lights on
