Toadstool not extending fully

This is how it used to look:

Then noticed it was closing up slightly:

It was quite close to a Duncan so I moved it and noticed the below:

Here it is today, even further closed:

Any ideas what's up with it?

I’ve had instances where my toadstool doesn’t open up. There are other threads on here that discuss it as well.

There are times that they shed a waxy coating. They don’t extend as much during this.

If they get irritated can also cause this. Not sure if Duncan’s are stingers, but if so that could be the issue.

Moving it, every time I move a toadstool they throw a temper tantrum like this.

Give it a little time. If it doesn’t correct then post again.

All of this assuming you have reasonable parameters in your tank.

Salinity, nitrate, phophate, ammonia.

Getting quite concerned it is dying from some sort of tissue necrosis now. The mushroom is curling at the edges and is no longer supporting its weight, the affected spot has brown slime on it and the polyps seem stuck. Should I dip and or frag to save what I can?
