Toadstool Not Opening

Hey guys, I got a neon green toadstool about a year ago at reefapalooza NY. It was a speck and grew nicely as you can see in this pic from a few months ago.

But a few weeks ago it started closing during the day for a while and then opening normally. Now it's been closed a few days.

Any ideas? It's starting to grow algae on it so I'm concerned it's dying. No change to the system recently. Thanks for your help!

A few day isn't a big deal... normal shedding. Any new tank additions or changes to lighting that could have been irritating it over the last few months?

Nope. Been really hands off for a while. Felt like the more I did the more things went wrong. I'm testing the params now. Will post shortly.

Mine has done that a few times and it always grows right after it does it... It stopped doing it once my female clown started sleeping in it.

Magnesium is higher than normal but I haven't dosed in like 2 months. Maybe I'll just wait a couple more days. Hands off!!!

High mag wont hurt the toadstool. I ran 2500 for weeks and the leathers were happy. You didnt move a powerhead, change the flow rate, or lighting? My toadstool closed up for 3-4 weeks moving it from one tank to a newer tank in my house. They are very slow to adjust to changes but very tough. Dont touch it and it will eventually aclimate to a change.

You say you havent touched it, but that leaves my to think it might be change in flow or light. If not either of those, I choose the other idea that its about to grow bigger. Just before they grow they pull in. Such a weird coral but i do love it
