Hello all... Here is a pic of my toadstool leather. It's been dragging the sand for about two weeks now. A friend told me to cut a piece of pvc and stand it up in it and it still is slouched over. Everything else in the tank is doing great and perimeters are spectacular! Pretty slow water flow where it's at though. Thanks in advance!

Here is a pic!

He doesn't like where he's at. Have you tried moving him? These guys can be testy.

He was just placed in the sand until today. A friend told me to put him upright in a piece of pvc which I did. He still looks bad though. Do they like a heavier flow of water cause he isn't in one now. It's more of a light stream/flow of water.

Can I glue him to a rock. If so I will do that for sure...

They are a bit tricky to glue to a rock. I dry off the foot area with a paper towel for a few minutes before attaching them to a dry rock with a thin layer of super glue gel. They don’t always stick as they secrete a slim that loosens them. It would be best if the leather is allowed to attach himself to small pieces of rock, then glue the rock to a larger piece.

You can glue him to a rock, but if he doens't like that spot, he will lean over and rip himself off that rock.

the fact that his tenticles are out tells me he isn't doing that bad . what I did is placed mine on a piece of live rock then used two pieces if live rock to hold him up on each side and let him attach himself at his foot. seems to do best under medium flow intermittent and around mid tank level. hope this helps

he looks healthy if you ask me, just possibly not happy with his location as mentioned before. ive had luck with gluing my leathers to rocks. my toadstools seem to appreciate very intense lighting as well. is that coral leaning towards ambient lighting like perhaps a window?

You can use rubberbands to hold it in place, they will attach themselfs in a month or two. They do like high light and flow

Mine will do that with low flow... When I put flow on him he perks up straight and tall!

how is your lighting? they like more light than some of us realize. good flow is best, otherwise they tend to retract their polyps more to clean themselves of algae. like others have said, move it onto the rock. I wouldn't glue it until you know it's happy.

The higher the flow the more they will stiffen up so to speak. If you can find a place with better flow that should work. I would just wedge it between two rocks. You can also cut the top off about halfway down the stock and place the top on a rock. The stock will grow a new top and then you have two. I had to do that with the big leather in my profile picture when I first got him. He kept flopping over so I snipped him because he was top heavy.

Mine used to sprawl out for the crown and take up a lot of space so I increased the flow on him. After I did his crown became more ruffled instead of sprawled out. Worked like a charm.

Leathers are almost impossible to kill in my experience. Just make sure he gets medium to high lighting and some flow...preferably medium flow. I see some of my toads reaching for areas with flow and light.
