So my first attempt at propogating my Tyree Green polyped Toad didnt go so well. I experimented with a rubberband, and it indeed was to tight around the attaching frag. It eventually bleached, under stress, and died.

Now, second time around, i have taking a new approach. Using a needle & thread/fishing line this time, and "sew" the frag to a rock or frag plug. This is just an informative thread for all that dont know how to frag a Toad and want to. ;)

All you need is:
-A Toadstool Leather!!!! :D
-A sharp razor blade or scissor's
-Needle and thread or fishing line
-And patience! for the leather to attach properly

First! All the tools:

Next have a healthy specimen(i closed it up for fragging):

Next step is grab your razor blade or whatever your going to cut the toadstool with and slice it!

I prefer not cutting the whole head off just because i dont want to kill one of my favorite corals(though it wont). :)

Now heres the frag:

Now to "sew" the frag:

Now after i tied the frag to the frag plug i superglued the thread underneath, just in case it wouldnt come undone.

Time intervals for the frag in the above pics and the one below:
7/30/07: Frag made
8/16/07: Frag below fully polyped and attached.

It was attached about 5-7 days after i did the intial fragging:

Wow thanks so much for the info and pics as well. Did you cut the frag off of the side..and did you glue it down on the exposed cut tissue side.

Great Thread:D

Dont glue the toadstool, it wont work. I just glued the thread so it wouldnt come undone. Look at the above pics and see how i actually peirced the toadstool and tied it down to the frag plug.

Nice job. I need to get one of those green polyps.
